designated spots, well spread out, 2 miles from the park entrance. One of my favorite spots in CO for dispersed camping
Super nice spot
Really convenient location and not far from lots of our favorite places to visit! A little muddy during October with melting snow and better for high clearance or 4 wheel drive but there are several easily accessible spots near the entrance.
Fantastic place to work from. Close vicinity to Black Canyon NP, reasonably clean though the flies were pretty bad in July. ATT service was great, took zoom calls all day with 30+mbps up. I parked near the pull in, can’t attest to how driveable the rest is without 4x4.
FYI-google maps brought us a few miles down the road so we had to go a little further to find it. It’s called Jones’ Draw. Great spot. 4 stars due to accessibility for non 4x4 vehicles. Tons of dead carcasses too. Other than that, can’t complain! Had a nice walk with the dogs down the roadway and since we were so close to the Black Canyon we got ourselves up there too! It’s amazing the landscape difference within just a couple miles!
Buggy, muddy, crowded. If you like crying babies, 10 billion mosquitoes, and being covered/getting stuck in mud then this is the place for you! Worst campsite in CO for me so far.
