Overnight Parking
Lot on the AT. It's a nice high elevation for this area, so I parked here during a heatwave for two nights. You can park overnight in any lot on the Appalachian Trail AFAIK. There's a nice overlook that's about 10 minutes East down the trail, but it's infamous for having been vandalized thoroughly with graffiti. Either way, it's a nice spot to walk out to early in the morning or whenever else. Teenagers like to come up here and blast music at night at times, and there's no shortage of other people coming and going during outdoor seasons. But, if you need a place to park when it's scorching out it's not a bad spot. It's sometimes an empty lot, and sometimes almost full (Saturday and Sunday mornings are busiest.)
This was my go to trailhead growing up. Not a bad spot. Can get busy depending on the season and time of day. Overnight you will get teenagers occasionally but some nights it will be completely empty. You can see the town of Halifax in the valley which has restaurants, groceries, gas, etc.
