I can imagine that this spot would be cool but there was a rock slide on the road heading up and it was unsafe to pass so close to the ridge.
The main forest road up is a washboard road doable for most rigs with a few sites along it; the spur road to this specific spot, however, is very tight and full of branches that will scrape up your vehicle. I would NOT try it if you have a large trailer, big rig or schoolie. Our rwd sprinter van drove it fine, a few scrapes on the side that will probably come out. A lot of leaves and a couple branches got stuck to our solar roof rack and ladder. Also note that there is no way to turn around once you commit to this road, you’re going all the way to the site or backing up (which would be a disaster). The site itself is extremely private but easily has room for a couple vans, a couple fire pits for when there isn’t a fire ban, an a peek at Rainer when the clouds aren’t clinging to it. Verizon signal was just OK without a signal booster (can’t stream video), but very good with the booster. Also full working bars of AT&T with the booster.
