This road is amazing! Tons of free pull offs and like 3 campgrounds all free. No amenities. Signs say 14 day camping must have bucket and shovel per CA law. Some of the spots on this road are even ON the river. At the bottom near Mt Shasta there is a kale to swim in and amazing views through yog Mt Shasta. The campground at lake is huge and even had availability for a Saturday checkin mid summer! This isn't free it's $40/nt and loud/busy but full of amenities. Bathrooms/showers/store/beach even a marina to rent sups and motor boats! Such an amazing area tons of free spots though!
