Very close to the National Park south entrance. Lots of dispersed sites with fire rings. Road is washboard but packed dirt so easily accesible. There are sandy spots on the sides and as you pull in to each site. Flat and level.
Lots of room just outside Joshua Tree National Park. Very quiet but you can see the highway in the distance.
The south portion of Joshua Tree Park right off highway i10(Cottonwood Spring Rd Exit) is BLM (Bureau of Land Management) area. This location is very large, and very quiet. The scenery at night is beautiful, with many trails to hike and bike. There is a main paved road that leads north to Joshua Tree Park, and along the way there are gravel roads that leads to more isolated areas but it will get bumpy. Stayed around this place for a couple of days/night. I was told other BLM locations allow you to stay for over two weeks.
