Camp here to hike or bike the Route of the Hiawatha one of America’s greatest rails to trail projects. Close to Lookout Pass but only open/staffed in the summer! Stunning scenery on the Idaho/Montana border, and the Hiawatha trail is just incredible. Bring lots of layers, beanies, and gloves as you’re at elevation. It’s cold, even in the summertime. Exit the freeway and drive a few miles to the trailhead. Lots of parking at the trailhead and it’s often staffed with bike rentals in the summertime. BRING A STRONG HEADLAMP if you plan to ride or walk the route as you pass through very long tunnels 8 I think, and it’s completely dark inside.
