It’s great. Lots of other vans and rigs; we parked on the side closest to the highway in front of the hill. Some wind but not too bad. Others have said there’s some sketchy people - there very well might be but there’s also nice people and if you don’t bug people they won’t bug you. There’s quite a lot of vans any given night so there isn’t privacy for “nature potties”, for example. There’s a fire station right next to the area so actually kinda feels safe; highway sounds weren’t a bother but might depend on where you park. Full cell service most of the time and we work remotely and had work calls just fine. Overall quite good!
Moved to the other side of the hill. Still generators. If you have dogs that get freaked out by loud noises, not the place for you. Glass was better but too many noises out here.
Lots of other campers (40-50) plenty of room to spread out, so at least your not right on top of each other. Seems to be the go to place near town. Unfortunately that means some trash as well as a few residential campers. It worked just fine for a few days in the area though
Mostly friendly people, broken glass everywhere. I spent my first day just picking up glass around my site. Had a nice walk going up Synder Hill. A lot of big RVs that use generators, so if you are looking for a retreat from city life. This definitely is not the place to be.
Really enjoyed my stay here! You can stay for up to 14 days. A lot of people staying here but it was incredibly quite and ever though you can see the other campers you have some privacy! Just be specific about where you park. My first night I parked at the most convent place then went on a walk in the morning and scouted out a better spot to park! There are a lot of options! It’s right outside Tucson. So not off grid but if you need to run into the city it’s perfect! As a solo female I felt incredibly safe here with my dog!
