Winter Park allows overnight parking/camping in this lot during the ski season. There are posted signs saying "no overnight parking" but their security department told us it was fine. It didn't snow while we were there but I'm guessing you might have to move if they need to plow. There are a couple of nice hiking trails that starts beh...

Overnight Parking
Great spot to camp during the ski season. Winter Park allows for 3 overnights in a 30 day period according to the sign. Not sure how strictly that is enforced. Spent 3 nights without issue. Quite a few other vans, rvs, and truck campers. Got a little bit of snow one night but didn’t get asked to move for plowing. Bus stop is right at the lot and takes you to the winter park village.
Great access to the mountain if you’re actively skiing/boarding, there’s a free shuttle every 12 minutes as of March 2022. Website says no camping, but if you call security they’re fine with it (in the winter, and we went during the week so less crowded). Several other vans/campers/rigs but not too crowded or noisy. Verizon and ATT service with a booster is decent. Would be five stars if there was easy walking access to the base or town and if people picked up after their dogs, there’s poop all over the lot.
Winter Park, you are the best!! G lot in winter, Vintage lot in summer. We basically live here, lol. (To the guy who said g lot isn’t available in summer - yeah, that’s because the vintage lot is available!) Try visiting Steamboat sometime, and you’ll realize how good we have it here at WP! Everyone take care of this place so they we don’t give them any reason to reconsider their awesome policies! And the cell service is blazing, zoom-ready fast! (I think there’s a tower on top of Colorado Mines) PS: our profile pic is of us in the vintage lot during the summer!
Fall and winter overnight parking only. Even still, there is a posted sign with a number to call for exceptions to the no overnight rule during the warmer seasons. I just hiked down here to check it out and it looks like there are a few extended-stayers with generators, camper trailers and camper vans alike. Everyone is spaced out respectfully. It’s just a gravel parking lot though, with a decent amount of nearby road noise. Probably a great place to meet other road worriers during the ski season, but not so much in the fall. You’ll have a better time parking along the forest service road (also here on Sekr) where it’s much quieter and farther from the main road, but still have access to the same trails. Both locations are close to pickups for the free local public transit.
