This is a stretch of beach near Port Aransas and Corpus Christi, Texas, that accommodates dispersed camping; tent and vehicle-based. Miles of beach lined with porta-johns and trash cans. Primitive, but not secluded. Campfires allowed. Sand is hard-packed so plenty of 2WD cars and RVs driving up and down the beach. Sound of surf and gulls ...

Amazeballs! My timing was off (Spring Break) but still an amazing on-beach stay. Like any organized nomad event, there’s party sections, and there’s family sections, and everything in between. $12 1-year pass and limit of three nights in a three week. Plenty of portapotties, trash receptacles, outdoor showers. Sand is compact enough, I’ve seen several large RVs and I pulled my bike trailer also. https://cityofportaransas.org/departments/parks-and-recreation/port-aransas-beach/

Busy beach! Lots of people during the day and also for fires at night. Permit is $12, available at a lot of places in town but for sure gas stations. You can stay here for 3 consecutive nights every month. On our second day an officer stopped by and gave us a slip of paper with the city's beach parking ordinance on it. We got lucky and hit the beach over Christmas break when the city was not selling any more permits for 2020--so it was free! Beach is very clean with portapotties(bring your own tp and hand sanitizer), garbage bins, and beach maintenance tractors out moving sand around. It is patrolled regularly, even during the night. We saw a variety of travel trailers, motorhomes, and vans while we were there.

Chose the worst time to go. Spring break + super windy conditions = people and fine white sand everywhere. Packed sand to drive on, clean port-a-potties, trash cans, but with the bad weather we decided to stay at the ferry park during the day to avoid sand drifts in the van. Signal spotty with the weather and all the people. Slow internet and dropped zoom calls.
