Would give the campground itself 4 stars, but after going out in Vidor it became extremely obvious that this was not a welcoming town. We heard many racist comments, saw a white supremacist gang, and experienced mild homophobia. As two female presenting people traveling alone we did not feel safe, I could not recommend any BIPOC people stop in Vidor. If you absolutely have to you can come in directly to the park and it is a ok overnight spot, just stock up before hand and don’t go in town. Bathrooms close at night & they “lock” (twist a chain around with no real lock) the gate so it feels a little safe. After moving on to our next Texas town we learned of Vidor’s past and reputation as a sundown town. Please be safe.
