Beautiful spot. GPS takes you right there. You enter the park and there’s a sign saying there’s dispersed camping allowed. Just follow the road and pick a spot. Surround by mountains. Saw about 3 other campers. Campsites spaced nicely. Very rocky and a little steep. But we did it in a van without 4 wheel drive. Definitely recommend staying here.

Great spot all along Smithsonian Butte Road. If coming up from south and east watch out for main st being washboard and under 10 mph. Also about 3 miles past dispersed camping allowed sign is a super steep road with rocks, we had to traverse slowly. Shorter but similar incline decline on the northside towards rockville. Still a great spot.

No longer available to camp (at least the first 2 sites, we didn't proceed up the hill so unsure if only spots are open) Recommended 4 wheel drive after the first couple of spots.
